• Poor packing is the most common cause of breakage and loss during a move. While some items like bedding, towels and books don't necessarily call for professional attention, other items demand the kind of protection only experienced packers can provide.
• Get lots of different sized boxes. Make your own moving kit.
• Comforters, pillows, blankets, winter coats should go in the largest boxes. Books, plates, heavy items should go in small boxes because they get heavy quickly. Wardrobe boxes are great for moving clothing in a snap.
• Make sure to get plenty of tape and however many boxes you think you need, buy a few more. Please prepare colored stickers (found at our company), Scissors, Sharpies, Packing tape and zipper storage bags.
• Please ask our specialist which materials and packing methods provide the most reliable protection. We use only clean cartons of various sizes to custom pack your belongings. For those items that need extra attention, we can construct special wooden crates.
• China is delicate and highly breakable and requires extra care. These steps can help you avoid breakage while on the move: First, wrap china in sheets of clean newsprint paper and place newsprint paper in the bottom of a box or dishpak for cushioning, wrap each piece of china individually. For plates, wrap up to three individual pieces in a bundle with a double layer of paper. Place these bundled items in the carton in a row on their edge (so they are standing up). Surround each bundle with crushed paper, being careful to leave no unfilled spaces. Smaller plates, saucers and shallow bowls can make up a second layer. Wrap and pack in the same way as larger items.
• Valuable antiques, chandeliers, marble tops and other delicate items may require custom wooden crates. We can build each crate to fit the item perfectly and also cover the article inside the crate with protective padding.
• Each piece of silverware should be protected by scratchproof, and double wrapped before packing for individual protection.
• Lampshades should be placed in lined cartons for added cushioning. Ceramic lamps usually require careful packing, or even crating.
• Mirrors and glass-front pictures are taped, then wrapped with soft, non-scratching paper and sealed in special corrugated cartons.
• Pack All Your Suitcases and Luggage: Suitcases and Luggage are usually even more durable than boxes.
• Use Clear Tape to Keep Track of Screws: Tape together the assortment of screws and nails for different pieces of furniture so you know which goes where. Makes it easy to keep track of.
• If you are moving your fridge make sure to defrost your fridge 24 hours before your move and clean it.
